An introduction should follow naturally from a general idea to a specific statement.
Typically, it consists of the following parts:
- Grabber or Hook – Catchy start (optional)
- Topic Statement (Must address the topic of the essay by rephrasing the topic and taking a stance on the topic i.e. by taking one side of the debate – for or against)
- Thesis statement – Blueprint of reasons (A clear statement about the course of your essay and what specific areas you want to address in your essay)
